There Hugo again

I just got an email from a member of the Hugo award nominating committee asking me to remind folks that the nomination process ends on February 28. I have details about nominating for a Hugo in an earlier post. If you qualify to participate in the process, well, you know what to do. But do it soon! Don’t wait until the last minute thus guaranteeing a computer failure, the dissolution of the internet, or a giant asteroid impact.

And, consult Death From The Skies if you need to know your chances of Asteroid impact! ;)

OK, Plait. I’m calling you out on these pun titles. Rubber chickens at dawn.

I was looking on Amazon for your books. Did you know that the two books I could find (Bad Astronomy and Death from the Skies) are listed under two different authors? Bad Astronomy has you as “Phillip C. Plait”, and when clicked on the author link it thought I spell your name wrong.

I’m going to try my local Barns and Noble instead :)

Rats, another year without a nomination. It might help if I got over my blog addiction and actually wrote something though.

Will a last minute rush to vote really dissolve the innertubes?

    • About Bad Astronomy

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.

"If things worked the way I wanted them to, any reporter about to do another 'sensational' story on deadly meteors would consult this volume, and bang! common sense would find its way into the news. How strange would that world be?"

"Reading this book is like getting punched in the face by Carl Sagan. Frightening, but oddly exhilarating."
