« Pluto’s atmosphere is upside-down!
Ten Things You Don’t Know About the Sun »

BA Alert: Coast to Coast AM tonight!

Hey BABloggees: I’m going to be on Coast to Coast AM tonight from 11-12 Pacific time (7-8 a.m. UT). Here’s a list of stations that carry the show; many of them stream the show live so you can listen on your computer. We’ll be talking about various current events, probably the asteroid that just skimmed past us, Comet Lulin, Pluto’s atmosphere, the Chinese Moon probe, and anything else we have time for. The whole thing will be under an hour, and I get excited and talk a lot, so we probably won’t cover all of these.

Also, check out this awesome image of tree pareidolia on the C2C site. Hypnotree!

UPDATE: I found this way cool video of the asteroid that zoomed by this morning. It’s not much to look at, but note the time display, and remember this thing isn’t all that much bigger than a house.

NASA managers today officially scheduled a 10:49 p.m. Friday launch time for the Kepler telescope.

“We’re ready to fly,” said NASA spokesman George Diller after a flight readiness review at Kennedy Space Center that reconvened briefly at 6 p.m.

@SLC Are you out there mate? Not sure if you’ve seen already but ages ago I answered your question here about the difference between giants and supergiants on the “Wonder Twins telescope sees star’s dying gasps” thread (about the red giant T Leporis) in case your still interested.

Click on my name to go see my lengthy answer and a summary in a nutshell on that question.

“Will Hypno Frog be in Hypno Tree?”

    I think you’ll find that’s Hypno*Toad* … Pedantic ain’t I? ;-)

Loved the video of the asteroid! Very interesting. But I have to ask, can I actually see that thing tumbling over, end over end, or is that just an illusion?

    I think you’ll find that’s Hypno*Toad* … Pedantic ain’t I? ;-)

Not at all. I stand corrected. :-)

  18. 18.   Derek Colanduno Says:

Would an asteroid the size of my house do much damage? I assume most of it would be destroyed in entry? Right? :)

Wow. They’re actually going to break away from the “We’re all doomed and going to die in an geopolitical economic mega-depression of giga-Biblical tera-proportions?”

That show was so much fun under Art Bell. UFOs. Bigfoot. Ghost stories. Shadow people. It was sci-fi theater starring people who actually believed in it all.

Now every time I turn it on there’s some sort of fringe economist (or some vaguely credentialed alleged expert on something or other from a group with a name like Global Center For Macroeconomic Prediction) telling us how we are going to be living in underground warrens and eating Soylent wafers made from kelp, mold and grandparents, scraping out a miserable existence as the world above falls into apocalyptic flames that not even a combined team of Jack Bauer, Chloe O’Brian, the Thunderbirds and Allison DuBois can prevent.

And that’s just by this June. It pretty much goes downhill from there.

That’s an impressive videALL GLORY TO THE HYPNO … tree? Sorry, reflex behaviour … carry on.

This video is no longer available? Did 2009 DD45 send YouTube a take down order?
