Update on the stick figure contest

Folks, I got word from Brandon Haught at Florida Citizens for Science that maybe I wasn’t perfectly clear when I announced the Stick Figure Science contest. It’s not meant to bash religion, but to point out a single flaw in some antiscience argument about evolution and illustrate it with stick figures. My example was from something I had already drawn last year, and happened to have a little bit more of a religious bent in the way I drew it. I should’ve chosen a clearer example, because they don’t want something that simply attacks religion. That’s not the point!

Just to be certain, here is Brandon’s blog post on this. I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page here. Thanks.

I’m guilty of submiting an inapropriate comic. Brandon was nice enough to inform me of its rejection and allow me to enter a more apropriate comic later. However, the winds been let out of my sails. It may take awhile for me to come up with something else as good as what I submitted. But, I do have a few ideas.

Yeah, I revised my submission to take down the anti-religion bit a notch. I also talked to them about file formats, so Brandon is now accepting PNGs (which are really a superior format for stick figure drawings!). It’d be really cool if one of this blog’s followers win ….

I’m just a bit miffed that no AUSSIES are allowed to enter. :’(

Oh – and that I don’t really have any good ideas yet…

It looks like they updated the rules, and have said on the blog that “folks outside the U.S.” can enter. Neato.

This is my first shot at running a competition, so I’m doing the best I can. Thanks to everyone who have made suggestions. As you can see, I’ve tried to be responsive. And thanks to Phil for agreeing to be a judge and helping to promote this shindig.
