Kiki Sanford is a neurophysiologist, a webceleb, a Skeptologist, and a pretty cool chick (haha: she studies birds. Haha). I’ve known her for a while now (though we only met IRL last year) and was impressed enough with her to invite her to come to the Conference on World Affairs here in Boulder a few weeks ago.
While she was here she interviewed another fave of mine: Michelle Thaller, a space scientist who also loves to talk science to the public. It’s a good brief interview, and worth your time.
Kiki also now has a live web show called Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour with Leo Laporte. There’s a chat room with tons of folks in it, and this week’s show had novelist (and yet another BA tweep) Scott Sigler. I have friends everywhere. Anyway, it was very entertaining, and it’s now available as a podcast. And hey, at 1:04:30 I get a shout-out!
The show runs live every week on Thursday at 18:00 Eastern time (22:00 GMT). Check it out!

New TWiT? Okay, I’m still several episodes behind on Security Now!, TWiT, and Windows Weekly (not to mention several others that I didn’t regularly listen to, but DID download for future listening)….
but SCIENCE!? (Okay, their Biotech show is Science…)

I was wondering where Leo LaPorte went. If it weren’t for him, I’d have never thought I could build my own computer (from a barebones kit).

Dr Plait, expect an email from “Steve Lundquist” (oh, and this is a test).

Anything with a former Screen Saver (especially Leo) is worth watching.

If Leo ever actually gets around to reading his e-mail… I sent him the info on how to get me and Swoopy on his show. He keeps telling others on the network to contact us… he must have the great spam filter of doom or something!

Derek:
He mentioned on The Daily Giz Wiz that his sister is handling his mail (due to volume, supposedly). You might to better to try and ‘go around’ Leo, for instance by sending Dick DeBartolo (the GizWiz/MAD’s maddest writer) an email to be forwarded (gizwiz.biz site)

Well, I think the interview with Dr.Thaller (who left a comment on my facebook page yesterday,Now only if I could get Phil to leave one for me.) was great. And so was the interview with Michio Kaku.

Leo sure does get around (anyone remember The Screen Savers?), but big thumbs up for getting a show with Dr. Sanford. I’ve been a big fan of hers since I first heard her on Skeptics Guide. One of the coolest chicks in science.

Phil, what is up with the purple tie? Are we pimpin’ astronomy now? otoh, you look great:)

I think that is the only tie he owns…I have seen him wear it on multiple occasions!

Dr Kiki’s show is an good listen for the most part, which leads to my question: Why is there a picture to go along with the talk? It really seemed so pointless. I mean, Dr Kiki is cute and all, but this really seemed a big waste of tech. And tech glitches (like skype connections that flake-out) on pod/video-casts should be outlawed. C’mon, editing tools are there for a reason.
Still, a good and informative show.

I think Dr.Kiki is a bright and original person with an excellent interactive talent;hopefully she is the starting of a fresh new and human approach to science and education. It helps,as well, that she is quite attractive and intelligent!!Can you say Superdelicious?Check out her site”The Bird Brain”to see what I am talking about! It is quite easy to fall in love with a woman such as this…
