I’ll be doing a live webcast today at 3:00 Pacific time!

ALERT: I’ll be doing a live video webcast on Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour (aka This Week in Science) with Kiki Sanford and Leo Laporte at 3:00 Pacific time (22:00 GMT) today. We’ll be talking Hubble and what’s going in space over our heads even as we’re talking about it. I think it’ll be live on UStream.tv which also has a chat room embedded where you can leave comments and ask questions.

I’ll update this blog post and include more links as I figure them out. I’ll also post updates on Twitter too.

UPDATE: Try http://live.twit.tv/ for the live stream of the show, and the chat room is http://irc.twit.tv/.

I’ll set that time slot aside.

You should be able to find more watching links from Leo’s live streaming video site at http://live.twit.tv

This is awesome to be watching it live on NASA TV! I love how you can see the astronaut’s reflection as the arm is lifting him into position.

I’m pretty sure that This Week in Science is different than Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour. TWIS is a radio show she has done for may years in Davis, while the Science Hour is a new web-based show that is done with Leo.

    DLC:

Yes, TWiS is very different that Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour. Nobody has claimed that the two are related.

From the post: “Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour (aka This Week in Science)” That’s what I was pointing out, Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour is not also known as This week in Science.

    It’s not a big deal, I’m just being a stickler for accuracy…=P

    DLC:

Ahh! I see what you are saying. I am sure that Phil was using the TWIS reference to compare it with DKSI which is the same format though on different networks and different co-hosts. TWIS is better known and better known than Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour which has only been going for 3 weeks now.

Of course it’s also possible that Phil goofed due to the fact that Leop Laportes network is called TWiT (for This Week in Tech) and thought they were related due to similar sounding names. Leo also uses the “This Week in…” monicer for other shows on his network..

You are right though the two shows are not related and only share format type.

You really need to give more than 30 seconds notice for this kind of thing if you want people to watch it. At least a day’s notice would be nice:P.

Ooo. I think a question I posed was answered, but unfortunately my ‘cache’ reset itself and I lost it. Phil, did you discuss Hubble’s importance in as it pertains to skepticism?

Great interview Phil, simply awesome :)

    Man, was I lucky.

I didn’t now that Laporte is such a cool guy, or else I’d have watched his show more often. Then Kiki, then Phil, and later a long video where Randi is presenting the dumbosity that homeopathy is. Great show!

And Phil, a podcast of your own would surely be welcome be most of us — even raw and uncut!

Watching the Chief TWiT and the Bad Astronomer….

    hmm.. that sounds rather… unfortunate.

Oh, marko, you can not only have more TWiT (twit.tv), but can also see old The Screen Savers on YouTube… I have several DVD’s of old shows that I’d DVR’d for occasional watching. Been following Leo’s shows since TechTV was ZDTV (now G4, which “to draw something in by producing a partial vacuum in the mouth”

Nice broadcast – I really enjoyed it, I hope they’ll have you do one with Randi in the future!

Alas, I could only listen. My ISP provides the slowest “high-speed” internet service around, so I did not get to see the pictures… :( It was still great though!

If you missed the show, don’t fret. They archive it on odtv.me. Today’s show has yet to be uploaded, but the last episode is available:

Keep an eye on the “Recent Videos” links on the right. It’ll show.

Sorry Phil, I couldn’t watch it. After about 6 or 7 minutes of waiting for them to get started, I just got sick of listening to the guy talk about random irrelevant unfunny uninteresting things. He also tends to interrupt, talk over, etc. I just can’t stand him, sorry :-(

What did you do with your Hubble Model (AKA The Toilet Paper Roll of SCIENCE!)?

    Just being inordinately curious
