Reservoir Skeptics

Fellow skeptic Crispian Jago has a way cool blog called Science, Reason, and Critical Thinking, where he posted this way cool image of a bunch of way cool skeptics (with one exception of course).

TAM dogs

What kind of dork wears a hat for a publicity still? Sigh. I’m thinking this may be the banner we use at TAM London. Or at least get it on t-shirts.

Well Phil, there has to be something to distinguish you from your evil twin. Although you both seem to have goatees, so I’m not completely sure what’s happening here. I’d avoid touching him if I were you, y’know, just in case.

So, Mr. Minchin is the mole? (see http://xs126.xs.to/xs126/08173/reservoir_dogs131.jpg)

I call fake. The shadows don’t line up.

Wait, I’m confused. I thought Phil WAS the evil twin. I mean, with all that “Death” in his book and everything. :-)

Does anyone know what is going on with the TAM London 25 tickets draw? They said they will draw the tickets yesterday… If the result is negative they just don’t e-mail at all?

    Very nice!

  7. 7.   Watergate Says:

haha Tremendous idea for a logo. I’d certainly buy a shirt, even though I wouldn’t be able to make it to London!

Cute! The basis of the graphic is copyrighted, though, so no t-shirts, K? Simon’s lawsuit is enough.

I wish I could some day be a speaker at TAM but, alas, I do not have a red hair goatee and glasses.

  10. 10.   Chuck Anziulewicz Says:

Mr. Plait kidnaps a Texas school board Creationist, douses him in gasoline and cuts off his ear, while “Stuck in the Middle with You” plays in the background ….

    OH I’M JUST KIDDING!!! I’m sure Phil wouldn’t hurt a fly … maybe … possibly …

  11. 11.   Mike Torr Says:
    June 8th, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Wow! I never knew Richard played Zaphod Beeblebrox in the TV series.

That picture makes you guys look kind of dangerous. You know the religious wackos are already accusing atheists of being killers.

“What kind of dork wears a hat for a publicity still? Sigh.”

Worse yet, I think I can see a pixel there showing that the hat might have an emblem on it…possibly a NASA emblem? ;-)

I want one of those T-shirts!

    I don’t care if they don’t exist yet – I’ll find them!
“Honey – grab me my t-shirt-divinin’ rod!”

  15. 15.   Jeremy Says:

Hey Phil, speaking of meetings, are you skipping out on AAS 214 ? It’s a little small, but proving to be a good time.

  16. 16.   Bellatrix Orionis Says:

Love the image. It would make a very cool t-shirt.

  17. 17.   Davidlpf Says:

Mr Savage may want to avoid any explosive detectors, he maybe not allowed on the plane.

  18. 18.   Torbjörn Larsson, OM Says:

That is so much coolness that they channel Mr K & J as in MIB.

    “wackos”

So how does AIG explain that prisons are overrun with “moral” religious persons, but way fewer atheists than in the population average?

[Do they insist on miracles, such that most atheists will become religious in prison? Apparently that doesn't explain those numbers either, anymore than foxholes works for the same.]

  22. 22.   Kimpatsu Says:

As I haven’t received an e-mail, I guess I won’t be going to TAM London (no tickets-sob!), but I would still like that very cool design on a T-shirt I could buy through JREF.

  23. 23.   Gary Ansorge Says:
    June 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Hmmmm. From the pic, it appears Plait and Wiseman are siamese twins, connected at the hip. Or are Y’All just good friends?

    (Ok! That was bad.)

Where are the primal equations? Where the shadowy bat wings(you know they’re required so the right wingers can tell the evil atheists from “normal” folk).

Hope you have fun at TAM London, Phil. Shall I start feeling envious now, or is it too soon?
Last time I was there was for the Dead show at Wimbley Park(1990). Nice venue,,,

I am so incredibly envious of people with acces to TAM! That picture basically sums up my heroes. It is going to be Amazing!, I am sure.

    …Want… to go… to London…

Seriously, Phil – you, Randi, my favourite Mythbuster AND one of my favourite comedians in the same room? That would be AWESOME!

(I hope Tim performs Storm. That’s one of my favourite tracks on my Ready For This? album.)

  27. 27.   Tom Says:
    June 9th, 2009 at 2:47 am

That reminds me; I have to book a hotel room in London.

After all, I got a ticket to TAM London :D

  28. 28.   Crispian Jago Says:
    June 9th, 2009 at 6:35 am

I believe Tim has a new animation to acompany “Storm” that I hope he will be premiering at TAM London. I saw him perform it at “9 lessons and carols for godless people” just before Christmas and it was totally awesome

That picture makes you guys look kind of dangerous. You know the religious wackos are already accusing atheists of being killers.

Heh heh. I have to admit I thought the same thing initially. The picture may be snark to those of us inside the community, but those outside will wonder if someone’s ear is going to get cut off at some point. :-P Oh, but I’m just a concern troll. Worrying that skepticism is making any *actual* gains in the world with the majority of people is out of fashion, I guess.

Where can I buy a copy of Discover Magazine in London? (I don’t want a whole year of subscriptions just would like to occasionally purchase a copy). Many thanks.
