The NECSS of skepticism

Are you skeptical and looking for something to do in New York City on Saturday, September 12th? The Northeast Conference on Science and Skepticism will be going on then, and it looks to be pretty cool. It’s being held by the NYC Skeptics and the New England Skeptics Society/Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe, and boasts speakers such as my fellow Hive Overmind blogger Carl Zimmer, Jamy Swiss, Paul Offit, Rachael Dunlop, George Hrab, and about a dozen others. You can see the whole speaker list here.

I wish I could go, but I suspect I’ll still be sleeping off Dragon*Con at that point. But it looks to be a lot of fun, so if you’re in the area, check it out.

Sept 12th! They -HAD- to put it on that very day! I’ll be hosting the VAAS conference at the NRAO headquarters here in Charlottesville, VA. No can do. Bummer!

I’ll be recovering from Dragon*Con myself, but I have to be the host-with-the-most that weekend. BBQ dinner at McCormick Observatory and the Moon rises late, so I’m sure a good time will be had by all!

Hey Phil! You HAVE to go to NECSS! Just hit up the coffee and Mountain Dew and you’ll be fine. You can even stay at my place (well, technically it’s my parents’ place, but I’m housesitting while they’re at their other place until October). There’s a pool table and a 1080p TV and a Blu-Ray player and a whole-house stereo. I’ll even pick you up at the airport.

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.
