Chat for Doctors Without Borders at 1:00 MT

submit to reddit

I’ll be doing a live chat on BlogTV to help support Doctors Without Borders at 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time (19:00 GMT) today! Sorry about the short notice, but this just got arranged. I’ll be on video, and you can go into the chat room to ask questions about astronomy, skepticism, or whatever.

DWB is a great organization helping people all over the world, giving them desperately needed medical attention even at the risk of the doctors themselves. This series of chats with different scientists, entertainers and more is being held over the next day to raise awareness and money for the group, so if you tune in and you’re able, please give whatever you can.

I had the good fortune to see Dr. Plait at a lecture/book_signing and on another occasion when he moderated a symposium on the next big discoveries in astronomy. He is engaging and entertaining, while immensely informed about a wide range of science and technology subjects which he enlivens with analogies and humor. Please join the Web chat for the benefit of Doctors Without Borders to enjoy Dr. Plait’s commentary and to support a good cause should you choose to make a donation.

Phil, I’m an astronomy student in Boulder and I’m wondering when I can get an opportunity to see you speak or something sometime soon! Trying to get involved in the Boulder astronomy community…

    Phil,

Glad to see you helping out with this great cause! I have followed dprjones for a while on YouTube, and think this is a wonderful Charity idea. I contributed $100 to MSF (DWB) on friday for the event :)

I missed your interview, but I saw you in plenty of panels at Dragon*Con, so that was cool too. Oh, if you can see the emails of the posters, I have footage of two of your panels if you want them, and footage of four of the panels if you want them for the JREF.

[OT] The world has lost a great humanist and a great scientist; perhaps the most modest giant one could have met. Goodbye to Norm Borlaug:

Awww, I missed it. I had to work for a few hours yesterday so I wasn’t online much. Maybe next time.

Kind of related–for fans of Rock Band:Beatles, if you buy the DLC song “All you Need is Love”, the proceeds are donated to Doctors Without Borders. I bought my copy straight away.

Lets go from doctors with no borders to a world with no borders:

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace…
