Anyone out there in BALand know what kind of toad frog this is for realz? Very cool. Update: It’s an Amazon Horned Frog. Thanks to commenter Charles (#4 below)!

    Yes, it’s the Amazon or South American horned frog, Ceratophrys, which is a genus of frogs in the family Leptodactylidae, subfamily Ceratophryinae.

    Actually, frogs and salamanders are extremely important creatures to study. Because of their porous skin, they soak up whatever toxins are in their environment and thus are extremely susceptible to mutation and disease. The health of an ecosystem’s amphibians telegraphs the health of the ecosystem itself.

    That, and…OBEY THE HYPNOTOAD….
