Wootstock!

wootstockIf ever there was a definition for geekgasm, it’s Wootstock: a performance by my mancrush Wil Wheaton, My Close Personal Friend Adam Savage™, and musicians Paul & Storm.

I would gladly take the box of pain test for the Kwisatz Haderach to get a chance to go to this, but sadly I have a previous engagement. It’s killing me; I tried twice at Comic Con (in 2008 and 2009) to get Adam and Wil together to meet each other, and failed both times (they’re both busy guys)… and now they’re going to perform together and I can’t even go! Worse, Josh Cagan will be there too; he’s a screenwriter and comedian and all around cool guy whom I met at Comic Con. I’d love a chance to hang out with him and his wife Kayla again.

And it gets even worse: Wil intimates that there wil be a special guest at the LA performance, someone fans of The Guild might be very happy to see. I don’t know for sure who he means, exactly. I suppose people who attend will find out.

I just hope Wootstock is such a huge success that it goes on the road and comes to Denver, or that they repeat it in situ at a time when I can go. Otherwise…

CURSE YOU WIL WHEATON!

Anyway, if you’re in the SF or LA area, Wootstock is on October 19, 20, and 21. Go, take pictures, leave comments here, and make me jealous and miserable.

    CURSE YOU WIL WHEATON!

Still, you posted this article about Wil’s intimates, so I guess that’s revenge.

If only! I read about this on Wil’s blog yesterday. My travel plans for the foreseeable future are pretty limited, unfortunately.

The “Gom Jabbar”. And it’s actually not for Kwisatz Haderach-hood, just for “humanity”. Yeah, those Bene Gesserit are crazy.

*giggles* I love how you used the word geekgasm. I use geekasm quite often on my site. I think I may have even used it on my own w00tstock article.

w00tstock almost makes me want to trade in my Socialist Canuckistani card for the opportunity to go. ALMOST!

    Whil Wheaton?

Will they do an east coast show? I actually live close to civilization now, and would love to see something like this!

    @6

If enough people demand it, they will come (also depending on how well the California version goes)

More info found on Wil’s blog

I’ve seen Paul & Storm live in concert 4X and will be seeing them again in December. Granted, this is all because they’re The Opening Band for Jonathan Coulton, but they do put on quite a good show on their own. ;-)

That looks like a fantastic show! I wish I could go. :-(

Should you really be cursing your man crush? What would Paul Atreides do?

Heh. At least you and Wil get to talk. I have been a big fan for years, followed his every word, and I don’t get to go either. But, I was gratified when I met him in Boston a year or so back that he recognized me by my username.

    Felicia Day again?

My hatred (ok, jealously) is renewed 10 fold!

We’ll be in LA (all the way from Saskatchewan!), but we’ll have our 9 month old with us .. anybody think the geeks would object to a geekling in the crowd?

  14. 14.   Paul A. Says:

    I love the poster.

IIRC the box of pain/Gom Jabbar was a test of humanity, not testing for the Kwisatz.

We will be at the SF show tonight, will definitely share pictures. I’m jealous that LA gets Felicia, however I’m sure SF will have its own geek celebs.

I will bet 1 quintillion space dollars that the special guest is Jonathan Coulton, unless I misunderstsand the intimation.

I’ll second that hope that Wootstock makes its way to Denver. And from the sounds of it, if you don’t have the clout to bring ‘em here, then all hope is lost!

  20. 20.   Jon Says:
    December 30th, 2009 at 2:20 pm

BRING IT TO DENVER! I personally know at least 30 people who would come!

I was at the Chicago show June 6th… and ZOH MAI GOD FSM what a show it was.

It will be a couple of days before I get my head together to blog it properly, but it was truly, mindbendingly awsum. One of the special guests was “Wait, Wait! Don’t Tell Me” host Peter Sagal, who did a spoken-word performance as an Evil Henchman that totally killed. With a death ray. There’s audio uploaded (see Twitter, #wootstock or #chistock) but no video of it. However, we got some good video of Adam Savage singing “I Will Survive” as Gollum.
