Yeah, it looks like it (watching the sequence from the .mpg backup copy). I didn’t recognize it because I have never had the opportunity to watch Blake’s 7.
Doesn’t show up on NetFlix as available, I see it’s on YouTube…

Great to see some of the old cybermen mk I – they used to scare the bejeebus out of a little ausduck back in the ’60′s. Yep, self-confessed Dr Who fan from way back then, although I mainly watched from behind the lounge (and I promise not to nitpick about the year – Dr who started on BBC in England in 1963). We only had 1 TV station, ABC (Australia) out in the corner of the outback whre I grew up in the 60′s & 70′s, so we were a sort of captive audience lol. Of course, my fave all time Dr Who incarnation is Tom Baker. woot!
*sigh* and I really really really like David Tennant as the Doctor. Regeneration seems to come around much too quick as I get older LOL.
Cool way to be reminded of how old and nerdy I really am, Phil!

Oh but there’s a lot there for Space Odyssey & Arthur C.Clarke fans too!

That was brilliant! “Timegirl productions” have done a great job there – thanks!

Scary to think we’re now closer to 2010 than 2001 – still I suppose it could be worse – we could be nearer 2061. I preferred the novel(s) to the movie but both are great – & I love Dr Who too. I grew up on that (Tom Baker & Peter Davidson era) & the Space Odyssey novels (at least the first three – this was before the 3001 finale.) as well as, of course, Isaac Asimov’s books. If anyone hasn’t already read the Space Odyssey series then I strongly recommend reading them – & if you have read them then I recomend re-reading them too!

the original 2001 story was called ‘The Sentinel’, and it was really really different than the screenplay/book ’2001′. I wish CGI had been around in the 60′s. Kubrick did wonders with stop motion.. every frame shot at F64 for some serious depth of field in the space scenes, but I would have liked to see the monoliths as they were in the book…. transparent with mentoring images of fat hominids eating the flesh of animals. and yes 2001 is the best movie ever made!!!

I loved it! Unfortunately for me, our local cable co. doesn’t carry BBC America so I won’t be watching the last of Tennants’ episodes. I can only hope that some other channel will pick up the reruns.

Chris: Kubrick and Clarke worked together on the screenplay and novel simultaneously. Kubrick is generally credited first for the movie, while Clarke is credited first on the novel (since each did more work for those respective mediums).
