Doctor Who End of Time trailer, preview, spoilers!

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DOCTOR WHO BELOW!

If you don’t want to have any inkling of what happens to The Doctor next, then you need to EXTERMINATE/DELETE this post immediately.

(Here’s a picture just to use as filler so you can avoid spoilers):

doctorwho_spacesuit

OK, that’s enough spoilage space.

If you’re a Who fan, and you’ve seen Waters of Mars already, then feast your eyes on this trailer released by the BBC for the next part of the 10th Doctor’s final adventures: "End of Time", Part 1 of which airs on December 25 in the UK and the 26th on BBC America.

Oh, baby! I know who’s laughing there. Woohoo!

And if that’s not enough, they’ve also released a three minute clip from the beginning of the episode:

[Update: Sorry about the bad link earlier; I thought that was an official release. The video is now from the BBCA site.]

Part 2 — David Tennant’s final episode — will air January 1 in the UK and January 2 in the US. The BBC is releasing the last three episodes ("Waters of Mars" and both parts of "End of Time") on BluRay and DVD on February 2, 2010.

Wow. I’m going to be very sad to see the end of Tennant’s stint as the Doctor. But I’m also interested to see Matt Smith step in, too. I wasn’t all that happy with Tennant at first, but now he’s my favorite. I’m a skeptic, so I’m always willing, even eager, for new evidence.

So, of course: alons-y!

Wow! That second clip was removed before you could even link to it!
    Bummer!

Did not like David Tennant at all when he first stepped in but now I am sad to see him go. This run of Dr. Who has produced some of the best episodes of the entire series.

Yikes, I’m glad I found the second clip some time ago and watched it….

The Video You Are Trying To Watch Cannot Be Viewed From Your Current Country Or Location.

For the first video that is.

Phil, the only thing that could possibly make you cooler as a great scientist and advocate is a love of Who. You rock.

D’oh! I grabbed a video that was not authorized. That’s fixed, and the video is now from the BBC America site.

mutter mutter oh the irony of being geolocked out the BBC.

Suppose i’ll just have to look on the UK site to see if there is anything new.

Can only see the first clip in the UK but no doubt they will be trailed 5 times a day every day till Xmas on the BBC

Captain Swoop: due to the vagaries of the BBC licensing scheme, they can stream it over the Internet for British viewers *or* international viewers, but not both. The former has to be restricted to the UK; that’s stuff paid for by your license fee. The latter is considered commercial, so there’s no restrictions, except that since the BBC isn’t allowed to compete commercially in the UK, they can’t stream it there. Solution, two virtually identical streams, one hosted in the UK, one hosted elsewhere. IIRC, it took them about ten years to figure that out.

    :-P

The baddie has been rumored for ages, so it wasn’t really surprising. Appropriate, though. And last weekend, I managed to introduce my girls to the whole arc from “Keeper of Traken”, to “Logopolis” (one of my favorite eps, and one which I suspect they’ll echo here), to “Castrovalva”.

I wasn’t so sure about Tennant at first either. I especially wasn’t fond of “The Christmas Invasion”. But he’s one of my favorites now. (Mind you, I have 10 favorite Doctors at present. In a year, I suspect I will have 11 favorites.)

Have you heard about Rex is not Your Lawyer? Tennant is going to be on US TV. I have…skepticism about the show, but I’ll tune in. I do love me some Tennant.

  13. 13.   Sindragosa Says:

Can someone tell me the length of the first video so I can find a viewable copy of it on YouTube?

I’m sad to see Tennant and Davies go, but I’m excited for Moffat to take over. He didn’t win three Hugo awards for nothing.

Hmmm. Go to the company Christmas party? Or stay home and watch Waters of Mars?. Or catch the rerun at 11:00PM (I hope…) Oddly, the GF (who is not an SF fan) loves Tennant but couldn’t STAND Ellickson. She also hated Avery Brooks, but liked Kate Mulgrew. Go figure.

The only way to stop the appalling practice of putting geography-limited content on the internet is for people who have access to it to actively refrain from linking to it or from embedding it.

I SO have got to see this when it airs here!

Wonder which channel will air it, though.

The thing that may keep me from it is that my folks watch these ghost related programs instead. In my mom’s case, that is often “Ghost Whisperer”, which cannot even touch “Doctor Who’s” level of awesome.

Give me Daleks, Cybermen, Time Lords, the TARDIS, and weird aliens any day over paranormal programs!

I hunger for the Dr Who of old, episodes where he was proud to say he was a scientist.
and Science mattered, not the supernatural garbage that has infiltrated nearly every episode of the latter series.
Still interesting to watch but not as satisfying to the mind, IMHO.

It will be interesting to see the Master gets resurrected. His last appearance on the show he was shot by his wife and he apparently passed away. Now he is returning and it will be a fight to the end with the Doctor. It will be sad to see David Tennant regenerate, but what can you do the show must go on. Part 1 of the End of Time will be on BBC1 on Christmas Day and part 2 will be on the BBC on New Years day 2010 and I am looking forward to seeing it.

I have seen Waters of Mars (I have connections!). It’s always hard to admit when I don’t like an episode, but I was disappointed with it. I look at it as a way to get us to the final two episodes… which I am confident will be much better. Just keep your expectations low for WOM and you’ll be ok :) It’s going to be very hard to see David Tennant go. But I’m just thankful he was our Doctor for so long.

Just saw “End of Time’ Part 1 in the US on BBC America… LOVED IT!!! :) I am going to hate to see David Tennant go. He will be missed a lot by all of my friends who watch every episode together. As far as I am concerned he is and will always be the BEST Doctor. We Love You David!

David Tennant was fine but I have the feeling that Matt Smith’s “unconventional” looks and persona, coupled with Steven Moffatt’s quirkiness will ultimately make him a better Doctor. Still, only time will tell.
