Carnival of Space #139

By Phil Plait | February 1, 2010 4:00 pm

The 139th Carnival of Space is now up at the very energetic Mama Joules blog.

Haha! You see, that’s a joke, because a Joule is a unit of energy. Haha! Ha! Erg.

Still, you should go there, read stuff, and learn. That’s what the web is for (despite the spam telling you otherwise).

Well, “Avenue Q” tells us it’s for something else also.

Pretty sure I heard that 90% of the net was porn. Not that I use it for that! ;-)

I just had to share this: http://www.religiondispatches.org/archive/churchstate/2236/when_mormons_mobilize:_anti-gay_marriage_prop._8_effort_%E2%80%98outed%E2%80%99?page=entire

“New documents introduced in the challenge to Prop. 8 reveal that the LDS Church sought to create “plausible deniability” in its role in supporting the Yes on 8 campaign.”

    Madness.

  4. Totally geeking out over the “Erg” joke ;)

  5. When I was a child, we had a dog called Joule. Not particularly energetic when I knew her, as she was quite old.

A teacher, marking my sister’s work, once “corrected” the name to Jewel.

Speaking of such things, it is a fact insufficiently exploited by the tourism and marketting industries that any food purchased in Australia contains zero calories. It might, on the other hand, contain any number of kilojoules.

    “Haha! Ha! Erg”

I see what you did there!

    Adrian Morgan Said:

“When I was a child, we had a dog called Joule. Not particularly energetic when I knew her, as she was quite old.”

She only had one joule left. At one watt she’d have spent it all in just one second, so she had to dish it out sparingly.

@Phil: Have you looked at the carnival posts yourself? In the “10 Space Trends for 2010″ at the blog “21st Century Waves” (http://21stcenturywaves.com/2010/01/26/state-of-the-wave-10-space-trends-for-2010/), look at point 6… this supposedly scientific blog, which appears in almost every Carnival of Space, supports Global Warming denial! :-(
