Bad Astronomy is still surly

surly_badastronomyAs I wrote about recently, I have teamed up with Skepchick Surly Amy to raise money for the American Cancer Society: she has created 200 lovely hand-made ceramic Bad Astronomy pendant necklaces, and for each one she sells for $20 she’s donating $10 to the ACS. Each one is different, so check them all out!

Over half the necklaces have been sold, but there are still quite a few left. Hurry and buy one (or more) soon; the total raised will be announced at the star party at Dragon*Con this year, September 2!

Find out more at Amy’s Skepchick post, which has more pictures, including one cute one of how one necklace is keeping a couple together, despite their reading material.

Mine came last week and is proudly hanging from my rear view mirror! (Somehow I didn’t feel totally comfortable wearing it at work… one of the worlds largest observatories… someone might get the wrong idea :)

    Aloha!

    Phil,
On a completely unrelated topic, I’d like to bring this to your attention so you can do your thing:

When I first went to Surly Amy’s site and tried to buy the pendant shown above, I bummed because it said it was sold out! Well if you snoop around her site a little you will find that she has others available, all different, all really cool looking. I couldn’t decide which one I liked best so I bought two. Can’t wait to get them.

Having had several family members and friends with cancer, I know personally how much this disease sucks ass. Thank you Surly Amy and BA for doing this.

I have the worst time trying to decide between Surlies, so I’ve bought a bunch. I have 4 of the Bad Astronomy necklaces. I’m wearing one right now, in fact. Surly Amy makes the best jewelry!
