I highly recommend a visit to Iceland, Phil. I went there recently, and walking among the lava flows just south of the airport is the closest you and I will ever come to walking on Mars. Watching the steam rising from the ground in the morning twilight shows you how much the Earth is alive.

Did you set your telescope out for passing trick or treaters? I did, and thanks for the idea. Kids (and their parents) got to see Jupiter, the Galilean Moons, and perhaps a cloud band. Quite popular.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN y'all! Have fun & enjoy it - or at least the last 5 minutes of it. ;-)

Great Halloween pic! :-)

Scariest. Volcano. Ever.

Although come to think of it Eyjafjallajökull is really looking more grumpy than frightening there if you ask me. ;-)

No images of the one in Indonesia (Mt Merapi, I think) that's just erupting in the last few days yet?

*****************************************

@4.The Fermat Liar : Maybe it’s the Face of Thor!

Which reminds me of this old children's rhyme :

The Thunder God went for a ride
Upon his favourite filly,
"I'm THOR!" he cried,
The horse replied :
"You thorgot your thaddle, thilly!" ;-)

Out of topic, sorry for that. :(
@Phil Plait
Can I ask for a request here? I tried to request on Twitter, but no response, and I think e-mail would take a long time. Basically, I am doing a research report about extrasolar planet hunting for English. Part of the requirement is an interview with an expert. If you can't do it, can you at least refer me to another expert?
