I am an astronomer, writer, and skeptic. I likes reality the way it is, and I aims to keep it that way. My real name is Phil Plait, and I run the Bad Astronomy blog.

@ MTU (5) -
Maybe I should have said "within each year" to forestall such nitpicks. But that would have denied you the joy of nitpicking, so it could be I was double-bluffing . . .

I like this idea: it’s good way to promote astronomy and science, and makes people come back for more!

Me too - thanks! :-)

I'll put this on facebook & forward it on.

@3. Nigel Depledge :

So, wouldn’t that be more of a “December” calendar than an Advent calendar? IIUC, Advent rather famously ends at midnight on the 24th December.

It does? ;-)

Okay, technically, your correct - although, of course, it technically also starts up again every year & thus never "ends" completely - but I'm not complaining! :-D

Always nice, more astronomy pictures. My wife bought us a cheap telescope and we can advice everyone to do so. Tens of dollars / euros isn't that much, but seeing the light that has been reflected off the surface of Jupiter and his moons, captured by your own eye, is really awesome. Now saving money for a nicer scope :-) Just wanted to share our joy

The BA said:

And if you prefer your advents closer to home, Emily at The Planetary Society blog is doing one as well with solar system objects. Bonus: hers runs through January 1st!

Huh?
