Wrap up: Donors Choose

By Phil Plait | October 28, 2011 12:00 pm

I want to thank everyone who contributed to the Donors Choose science blogger challenge. Because of you all — 90 people who donated in total coming from this blog and my other outlets like Twitter and Google+ — we raised $5,887, and 2,480 students will see new science materials in their clasrooms!

Wow.

Think about that. Nearly 2500 students, positively affected by strangers who simply want more science taught in school. Some of the donations were for a little bit, and some for a lot, but they all added up to a huge effect on those kids’ lives.

So thank you to every who participated, and know that you have been a great help. And for those of you who donated in the last couple of days, I’ve been told the matching donation email has been sent. Check your inbox, and in just a minute of your time you can double your impact.

Y’all are great. Thanks again.

    1 Thespis:

You can go to the Donor’s Choose website any time and pick a project. Also you don’t have to choose the ones that Phil supported. On the matching donation I chose a science project in my area of NJ that was more biology than space science.

What do we do if we didn’t get the email? (Already checked the junk mail folder; not in there either.)

  4. Too bad I’m a poor student myself, otherwise I would have donated. Maybe once I become a real scientist and become filthy rich off the government paying me not to expose the Moon Hoax, chemtrails, Nibiru, etc. then I’ll donate.

    That’s what scientists do, right?

    *note: sarcasm…

That’s great to hear, Phil. Thanks for putting the donation challenge together so we could help. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have thought to donate.

Update: I still didn’t get the email from Donorschoose. Are other donors having this same problem?
