Word of Advice:

by JoAnne Hewett

If you are planning to take a telepherique/cable car to the top of a mountain, when you reach the top, be sure to check the departure time for the last car of the day. Otherwise, you must hike all the way down… Of course, this affords spectacular photo ops:

And the hike could be quite pleasant, if you had planned on it, and were not racing the imminent sunset.

Did I mention that you must hike ALL the way down?

Very nice photos. Is that the Matterhorn (Zermatt) I see there?

    • Cosmic Variance Cosmic Variance is a group blog by people who, coincidentally or not, all happen to be physicists and astrophysicists:
      • Daniel Holz
      • JoAnne Hewett
      • John Conway
      • Julianne Dalcanton
      • Mark Trodden
      • Risa Wechsler
      • Sean Carroll
Our day (and night) jobs notwithstanding, the blog is about whatever we find interesting — science, to be sure, but also arts, politics, culture, technology, academia, and miscellaneous trivia. We have similar outlooks on many things, widely disparate opinions about others, and will do our best to keep the discourse reasonably elevated.
