Best Post-Election Reaction: II

by JoAnne Hewett

TV-evangelist and former presidential candidate Pat Robertson has warned the good residents of Dover PA (background post) not to be surprised if disaster strikes. Here’s the quote :

If there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city.

I imagine the Dover residents are cowering under their beds in fear. Or perhaps if there is a God, IT is pleased that the good people of Dover used their brains.

I have just had to take a manditory online harrassment course on behalf of my university, so that I can identify harrassment and act appropriately should I ever see it. As a result of this, I can unambiguiously say that Pat Robertson is guilty of religious harrassment. Such statements make for an uncomfortable living and working environment for the residents of Dover. They should sue. And as a supervisor, I should report him.

    Samatha,

I have just completed what is probably the same computer-generated course, and I whole-heartedly agree with you!

I’m just trying to imagine the type of disaster that would take out Delaware…

    Mass riots insurance fraud?

    Boredom… to death?

Rising shorelines due to global warming? (sorry, not Christian to believe in that particular disaster)

    • Cosmic Variance Cosmic Variance is a group blog by people who, coincidentally or not, all happen to be physicists and astrophysicists:

      • Julianne Dalcanton
      • Mark Trodden
      • Risa Wechsler

Our day (and night) jobs notwithstanding, the blog is about whatever we find interesting — science, to be sure, but also arts, politics, culture, technology, academia, and miscellaneous trivia. We have similar outlooks on many things, widely disparate opinions about others, and will do our best to keep the discourse reasonably elevated.
