Handmade Flying Spaghetti Monster

by Risa Wechsler

A plush version His Noodly Self is for sale on ebay, with proceeds to benefit the Nationl Center for Science Education, tireless defenders of science from creationism. The thing is just too cute not to pass on… bid on it as a gift for someone in Kansas!

(via Panda’s Thumb)

Update: if you can’t afford the plush version, a FSM replacement is now available for your darwin fish.

anyone else think some “string theory” jokes are in order here?

(maybe lighten the mood from some of the intensity of other running threads?)

Somehow, flying spaghetti doesn’t seem like a very aerodynamic design. I don’t think evolution would have come up with this on any planet. Not “intelligent” enough. :-)

Or you could knit a hat resembling the Great One.

    • Cosmic Variance Cosmic Variance is a group blog by people who, coincidentally or not, all happen to be physicists and astrophysicists:
      • Daniel Holz
      • JoAnne Hewett
      • John Conway
      • Julianne Dalcanton
      • Mark Trodden
      • Risa Wechsler
      • Sean Carroll
Our day (and night) jobs notwithstanding, the blog is about whatever we find interesting — science, to be sure, but also arts, politics, culture, technology, academia, and miscellaneous trivia. We have similar outlooks on many things, widely disparate opinions about others, and will do our best to keep the discourse reasonably elevated.
