Nothing wrong with having two Mother’s Days, uh, man. Given all they do for us, two seems a small number. I frequent both sides of the Atlantic, so I send my mum (note: not “mom”) special greetings on both days. She gets to “double-dip”, so to speak.

I once knew of girl during the “hippy days” called Flower. Doesn’t it say it all?
Or maybe there is some native interest in you, that you may be called, “Wild Flower” after the pallete of experience seen in a natural setting, some valley, or on the steps of mountainside?

Isn’t every day of the year a mother’s day? I used to call my mother up on my birthday and each of my siblings’ birthdays and wish her a happy mother’s day, 4 times a year. After all, all each of us did on those dates was show up while mom went through the labor pains.

My mother and grandmother didn’t care for Mother’s Day — they thought of it as a holiday invented by greeting card companies — so we never celebrated it when I was a kid. Then, back in 1992, my sister and I had planned to take out my mother for her birthday, but the LA riots had begun a couple of days before and somehow it didn’t feel appropriate to go out and have fun, so we stayed home. To make up for it, we took my mom out for Mother’s Day brunch a couple of weeks later, and afterward she said “This was fun! Let’s do it again next year.” And we have.
I have mixed feelings about Mother’s Day. It’s a nice enough tradition as long as it’s not the only day we acknowledge our mothers. My concern is that, like secretary’s day, for a lot of people it becomes the one day that they try to make up for a lack of appreciation the rest of the year. Not that I think anybody here would do that!
My little girl is too young to bring me breakfast in bed. In fact, I’m still giving her breakfast in bed!
