Picture postcards showing the excitement of the discovery of the quantum universe are available for immediate emailing! The cards are cute and fun and are available here. Send one to your friends today, or even better, send one to your Mom (it will count as positive communication with your Mother). No place on earth can compete with the entire universe for flashier or more provocative pictures!

Postcards are a time honored tradition (since the invention of still cameras) and when on vacation, many of us send postcards home with flashy pictures of our vacation locale. We feel a need to advertise our trip and to see if we can beat the postcard home. (My personal favorite was a postcard sent from a friend who went to the base of Mount Everest – the postcard arrived 6 months later, torn to shreds, and encased in a plastic baggie.) So why not advertise our interests or occupation?
I sent the dark matter moose card to my parents – ok, they did not understand the physics message behind the card. But, they understood that it was a cute representation describing what their daughter does for a living. They enjoyed it immensely and perhaps learned just a little bit about the universe too.
So, take a look at the selection and send a few and enjoy the response! It’s easy and it’s fun! And, you might even score some brownie points.

Hi JoAnne,
in contrast to your parents I understand the physics message, however since I am not a native speaker I do not understand the deeper meaning of the word “moose”. It would be nice if you could explain that
Cheers

I’m sure soon we’ll have a “War on Tera”.

No wonder they can’t make up their mind about dark matter; the metaphor they use is so hard to swallow. No matter how much you work to cook it just perfectly, none of the parts that are ascribed particle values get past chewy and dry. Maybe if they chose to use a buffalo or elk, they would be more willing to find commonality.

Beware the giant fuzzy moose.

Andi: I think the main preoccupation with moose is that they are an awkard, funny looking, yet cute, animal. I’m afraid there’s nothing deeper than that…
James: The moose postcard can be found at the link given in the post.
BG: That is priceless! Perhaps we too can get $$$ from the department of homeland security!
