Peace

by Sean Carroll

Have a peaceful holiday, everyone. If you’re not feeling especially peaceful, perhaps this bit of groove from Rosko Mercer can help you along.

Awesome. I love this blog, and a funk version of Also Sprach Zarathustra, although not what Strauss had in mind, is pretty awesome.
Thanks! It made my day way better already!

Thanks Sean, likewise to you and everyone else around. We (and other posters and commenters) may often disagree about high-end metaphysics (not just “physics”), but I don’t think for a minute that those who aren’t aligned with me about that are less worthy as human beings (and BTW, it is scandalous that an atheist could likely not be elected President in this nation. Any quality candidate in that category would get my vote, all other things being equal.) I thank all those who have put up interesting posts here over the last year, as well as the long-suffering folks who have worked with me and other infra-professional gadflies, in the face of sometimes great irritation and even put-downs, to explain physics and philosophy as they saw it.

I originally made up the following e-card for the folks at Backreaction, but you-all can enjoy it too:

    • Cosmic Variance Cosmic Variance is a group blog by people who, coincidentally or not, all happen to be physicists and astrophysicists:
      • Daniel Holz
      • JoAnne Hewett
      • John Conway
      • Julianne Dalcanton
      • Mark Trodden
      • Risa Wechsler
      • Sean Carroll
Our day (and night) jobs notwithstanding, the blog is about whatever we find interesting — science, to be sure, but also arts, politics, culture, technology, academia, and miscellaneous trivia. We have similar outlooks on many things, widely disparate opinions about others, and will do our best to keep the discourse reasonably elevated.
