Atomic interferometers measuring small changes in local gravitational acceleration could help detect new underground oil sources (due to the corresponding changes in density).

So maybe it could be relevant.

At 4th author, chances are he finished his contribution to the study a year ago or more. I left academia 23 months ago, and I still have nth author papers in the pipeline.
