It is much cheaper and stronger, however care must be taken when using full strength as it is a strong oxidizer...if splashed on the skin it will instantly bleach it white with possible corresponding tissue damage. By the way, H2O2 at 3% to 5% is great for getting bloodstains out of carpet or furniture if you cut yourself and bleed all over the place... And yes...its elementary knowledge.
