I would expect that if I took a gun, shot at a moose, then saw the moose fall and cried "jeebus be loving! He granted me food!" I would be laughed at. Somebody might posit, rationally, "Um, you actually just killed it, dude". I think the biology of this story and this event is amazing, and tells another part of the evolutionary tale. Its just that what passes as religious ceremonies is rather weak in some parts of the world (although, this is rather harmless overall compared to most!) and the irrationality associated with it is eye opening.
