I've often wondered how much of a dent all those cars put in the insect populations, and also wondered if that may be one of the reasons for the decline of many of the fly-catching guild of birds (flycatchers, swallows). But knowing how many insects are killed within an area doesn't tell us what kind of impact there is on the population as a whole--if we could get a measure of that... Brilliant!
