Check out John Hawks’ commentary on this story about chimpanzees attacking a taxi and killing the driver. Never forget that we are a relatively gracile species.

Where there is fire, there is smoke. And in that smoke, from this day forward, my people will crouch and conspire and plot and plan for the inevitable day of Man’s downfall – the day when he finally and self-destructively turns his weapons against his own kind. The day of the writing in the sky, when your cities lie buried under radioactive rubble! When the sea is a dead sea, and the land is a wasteland out of which I will lead my people from their captivity! And we will build our own cities in which there will be no place for humans except to serve our ends! And we shall found our own armies, our own religion, our own dynasty! And that day is upon you NOW!

Maybe this is the reason why Africans aren’t terribly sentimental about chimps. It takes a white guy.

One day the Earth will become as it was portrayed
in the movie, “Solient Green” starring Charlton Heston.
The only creature that out numbers Humans are insects.
The Bald Eagle was taken off the Endangered Species list
when its numbers reached about six thousand. Would we be worried if there was only one million Humans left? Do you get my drift? Hello people, this is your wake up call.
I, for one fully support the Chimpanzee quest for freedom.
Human Beings are the most vicious, cruel, uncaring predator
on this planet. There are way too many of us and way too
few animals. How meaningless and empty the world will be when the animals are all gone.
