Hobbits on NOVA

By Razib Khan | June 15, 2010 3:25 am

This looks interesting, Aliens from Earth:

An ancient legend on the Indonesian island of Flores tells of an elflike creature similar to the fictional hobbit of novels and film. But a controversial 2003 archeological find not only suggests that there could be some truth behind the legend but promises to rewrite a key chapter in the human evolutionary story. This program investigates the discovery, analysis, and startling implications of the hobbit of Flores.

Airs tonight in the USA.

Just think; in a hundred years the two humans mainly associated with Indonesia will be The Hobbit and Barackmandias.

Because traditional peoples in Indonesia are all about reading lightly fictionalised retellings of Beowulf. I hate this kind of journalism.

Yeah, looks interesting, except that NOVA was pre-empted for yet another weak speech from the President.

This program was originally aired in 2008. Don’t know if they’re updating it for the reair. But probably not so it won’t have the latest stuff on skull shape.
