@Mursal
I am not entirely sure what you meant.. What this blog post implies is that both Cushitic and Semitic Horn Africans share a common origin but with non-trivial differences mainly based on language family and/or geography.

"there has been a veritable cottage industry making the case for the recent origin of many ethno-linguistic populations through a process of cultural self-creation"
Yup, <a href="http://entitledtoanopinion.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/claims-from-james-scott-i-hesitate-to-adopt/" rel="nofollow">James Scott</a> is one of those people, although I believe he's just repeating what other anthropologists have said.

Very interesting.

I did not see you mention it in my first reading so I'll mention that some people think Cushitic, though all Afro Asiatic language groups might originally have their source in or near the Horn, came "back" to the Horn of Africa later, from the direction of Sudan and Egypt, where Beja is found. I understand the linguistic and perhaps genetic diversity of the Somali/Oromo group at the eastern extreme of the Horn is considered to look younger. (Concerning the genetic side, I mainly only know about Y DNA evidence.)

Interesting analysis, many of your observations are quite ahead on what has been published so far by population geneticists on this region of Africa.
