Greetings from the Arctic in Norway

In coming days, I’ll be posting some images and stories from the Arctic in Norway. I’m here to report on climate issues, and to attend the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy the image above. It’s a mosaic of six iPhone images stitched together with a wonderful app called Autostitch. I have not cropped it, so that’s why the shape is somewhat irregular.

You’re looking at a fish farm near Steigen, Norway. The sun has returned to this spot above the Arctic Circle, but it is not yet visible at sea level because mountains are in the way. The alpenglow on the mountains in the background lasted for hours.

He also continues to work as a science and environmental journalist with more than 30 years of experience producing content for major publications. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Audubon, Climate Central, Columbia Journalism Review, Discover, Nieman Reports, and many other publications. He has held a variety of editorial positions over the years, including a stint as editor-in-chief of Earth magazine. Yulsman has written one book: Origins: the Quest for Our Cosmic Roots, published by the Institute of Physics in 2003.
