The "Holds" Scandal Worsens: Speak Out!

Mike Dunford has the details, based on Congressional Quarterly‘s reporting. There are apparently multiple senators blocking two of Obama’s key science appointees from taking their posts. This is outrageous–a totally new kind of “war on science”–and we need a full court press. Details here.

What are the reasons for the holds on the two science advisor nominees?

Looks like Senator Menendez is putting his own ideology ahead of what’s best for the country and his own party (again).

He played a crass political game to put a hold on scientific advisers and now he’s playing the same game on the Omnibus spending bill.

Menendez is looking more like NJ’s very own version of Joe Lieberman every day.

“The most stinging defection: Reid’s own senatorial campaign committee chairman, Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J), who told Democratic leaders that he’d be voting “no” over his objections to the House bill’s easing of the embargo against Cuba.”
