I wonder who first came up with the idea of eating sea cucumbers? I think many of them are just too cute to eat – that’d be like eating your pet puppies. They’re one of the many animals I love staring at.

While on the topic of sea stuff I’ll digress into surface water acidification. Australia shows more political fumbling as it defers its emissions trading scheme for two years (basically after the next federal election). Putting on my cynic’s costume I’d say it’s a vote loser so decisions have to be left to the next elected government. The proposed scheme would have been 100% useless but still I wish that they could come up with a useful and sensible scheme sooner rather than later. In the meantime, expect an ever increasing dissolved inorganic carbon fraction in sea water.

I didn’t even know the aquarium had a blog, thanks for pointing it out! It’s one of my absolute favorite places to visit.
