		<description>I think the most shocking thing to realize is that there are still people who want to continue down the destructive path of deep water drilling. It&#039;s like a junkie who keeps shooting-up despite the fact that their life has fallen apart and it is killing them.</description>

The reason this occurred is because the safety features put in place to prevent it failed.  If the BOP had failed on a shallower well it would still have failed.  If the spill had occurred closer to land then the land would be covered with this oil even faster.
I don&#039;t see that the depth of the well or the distance from land had any bearing on the cause of this spill.</description>
