Heh. Me to myself, while I wrote this: "Well I know there are many species of echidna but that sentence is getting quite long and clumsy already and maybe if I just go with "examples" rather than "species", no one will pick it up."
On the internet, *someone* will pick it up...

Ah echidnas. They have to be one of the best things about living in Tassie. :-)

"the echidna, along with the platypus, are the only two living examples of egg-laying mammals"

This sentence is a little inaccurate. Do you mean two types?
There are four species of echidna; one Tachyglossus species and three Zaglossus species.

"...and ejaculates large bundles of sperm."
Large bundles? Is the sperm tied together somehow?! Isn't that irreducibly complex?!
Seriously: nice blog. Thanks.
