		<description>Catching up with blogs and this one reminded me of something I read ages ago; modern cattle have a section of DNA that originally came from snakes.

I use this example (and will now use those from this post) when discussing gene transfers with my students. We have to consider antibiotic resistance but the idea of it happening with vertebrates like us catches their imagination much better!</description>
