Obama Would Win Easily…If the Election Were a Web Poll

submit to reddit

voteIt’s no secret that, when it comes to Internet savvy, the two presidential candidates are about as different as BASIC and LINUX. And nowhere does their Web contrast play out more than in their respective campaigning. The Economist reports that in June, Obama raised $52 million in total, $31 million of which came from donations of $200 or less that were mostly generated by his Web site. He also has 1.3 million Facebook supporters to McCain’s 200,000, and also keeps regularly updated profiles on MySpace, LinkedIn, and other social networks.

And then there’s video. While YouTube has been embraced by just about everyone as a great way to spread viral campaign messages, Obama has his own video team on the payroll. So far, the group has shot more than 2,000 hours of footage and uploaded around 1,110 videos on his YouTube channel–more than four times the content on McCain’s channel. And all that work has paid off: The Illinois Senator’s videos have been viewed 52 million times to McCain’s 9.5 million.

To top it all off, Obama has a Twitter account (just like the SEC!), and of course, there’s the text messaging. Earlier this month, the campaign sent out a widespread e-mail offering anyone the chance to sign up to receive the name of his chosen running mate via text. A few days later, Obama Mobile, a site allowing users to access Obama news and download videos on their cellphones, was born.

Whether all the mining of technology translates into votes remains to be seen—though, given that 40 percent of Americans get their campaign news from the Internet, investing in a significant online presence can’t be a bad thing. Likewise, we’ll also see how a relative dearth of technology use/knowledge fares for McCain—once he gets that whole “Google” thing figured out.

Look, we are in An obvious situation here, that is of historical proportions with this Unprescidented culture of corruption and cronyism that has never been seen. There has been an outing of An undercover CIA agent Valerie Plaim and nobody has been hung for treason, the manipulation of the energy department that led to the Enron disaster, the deregulation of the FDA that led to led paint in our childrens toys, and the deaths of American pets with contaminated produts from China, the deregulation of the energy department that brought us speculators and record prices for fuel and record windfall profits for big oil, and the deregulation of the banking industry that led to greed and unsavy brokers that took advantage of it all. And now the collapse of wall street, the banks, and our economy. Then the coverups of sexual abuse of republican page boys, Rampid, GAY, republican, illicit, and lude acts of misconduct by prominant republicans! Larry Craig, Foley and right wing guru Haggerty. This current case of the illegal firings of federal proscecutors for political reasons,The so called war council that made it possible with their opinions the violations of the 4th 8th and 14th ammendments of our Constitution banning the use of torture. They have also Violated the common article three of the Geneva convention banning torture. Do I have to mension the trillions spent on this wasteful, poorly planned war in Iraq? Whew A total free for all with the Justice department stacked with family friends and cronys who refuse to hand down subpoenas with any bite to them. Nor will they proscecute any of the bushies for anything. War crimes can stll happen folks! Then we have the mind boggling federal deficit that this current cabal in the whitehouse has ignored to do anything about; afterall, he did give away billions of dollars in tax revenue to the extremely wealthy, and big oil in A time of war. And these are just to name A few things, not all that is wrong here. This is too much. Enough is enough! screw this joe plumber! we need the obvious change of the political party in the whitehouse! The working class Americans are suffering, and so is the economy. Come on now! tell people to pull their heads out of their behind and pay attention to the real issues here! and the reality of it all! the real issues! not someone who was an activist 40 years ago during the Viet Nam War! come on! Ayers is A professor who does not sit aroung chanting Jihad! death to America! Besides Obama reputiated Ayers past. We need to move on America! Look towards the future, Not four more years of the same failed policies that have not worked for the last three republican presidents. We need the Obama message to become reality in the whitehouse. Not this feable old man mc cain who is out of touch, out of ideas, out of his league, out of his mind and out of time. And he might be out of Depends! LOL!

And yes, history will be made with the first African American president of the United States. But race is the least important part of the issues here. Our future is more important. We have A message and A plan for change. So please vote for real Americans! Vote for A real change.

On november 4th Vote for Obama- Biden for President. Dem Fan!

I have just started a movement called WHALES. The aim is to communicate, connect and share with respect. And this great article is a great way forward. I noticed that PE O is doing things differently. And that’s what we all want. Even if we are not from the USA. Whatever you did effected me. You can vote by I cannot. When you stuff up the dollar de-valuate. But when you really stuff it up badly you allow all kinds of tax advantages to pull money from my country to to the USA. The next thing the dollar increase in value and my country’s value decrease.

I have diverted but the issue is that the internet creates a free society and many years in the future we will see the impact of the power to the individual. Obama is one who may have been the first to make social or e-politics popular but as you say there were others before him and there will be others after him.

The real power is moving to the individual. It’s already threw. And most don’t know it yet.
