Looking for Patterns in Earthquake Data

So, I’ve been messing around with some earthquake data from the US Geological Survey — data you can download yourself from their new earthquake database — and thought I’d run this plot by everyone. This shows days of 2013 (numbered sequentially, so January 1 is merely “1” and so on) versus the magnitude of the earthquakes that occurred on that day. Across the top is the moon phase — open circle are full moons, circles with crosses are new moons. What do you think of this data? Can any patterns or predictions be made from it? Put your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll have more to say on this tomorrow.
