Why not at the very least a hands-off cruise control for the highway? Possibly a network of cars, but once merged, why cant a car just follow waypoints as directed by a central system? No more truckers, nothing wrong with drifting to sleep while you're in the middle of a 14 hour car ride. Baby steps people.

I, too, felt that the "flip off the cop" line was inappropriate. It has nothing to do with either science or Knight Rider.

What's with the lack of humor? I know cops that would have chuckled at the comment. I'm sure the self-drive car of the future will have proper algorithms to determine the need for "flipping off". I'm sure it would think, "Cop, can pull me over, do not flip off, maintain speed limit" etc.. etc...

Why the anti-social "flip off the cop" statement? Are journalism schools teaching such unnecessary and disrespectful writing? If I were your editor, I would fire you for such unprofessional writing in what is supposed to be a science oriented journal.
