There actually weren't that many giant robots in anime that were controlled with motion capture, surprisingly. Daimos is the one that turns into a truck, while Taekwon V doesn't. Also, one is Japanese, the other is from South Korea. There's also G Gundam, but that didn't come out till 94, so that's probably too late to be what you're describing.
