		<description>The DNA vaccines have various advantages.

They allow creation of vaccines based on genes shared by all strains (&quot;consensus&quot; genes) rather than requiring growth of many different strains.
They don&#039;t use a killed or attenuated sample.
They don&#039;t require cold storage.
They are very good at generating T-cell responses that kill cells that have been infected before they can complete the cycle. They can be used to treat existing diseases as well as being used as a preventative.

There are other advantages as well over most conventional vaccines.</description>

		<description>The reason most vaccines, including flu vaccines, currently take so long to produce is that they are manufactured using chicken eggs, which takes quite a few months to mature and are consume a lot of space while incubating.  They can be generated much quicker using traditional biotechnology techniques like fermenting in large tanks (like beer). I think the reason they aren&#039;t are more related to regulatory issues (ie FDA).

If industry and government agencies would allow for quicker production of traditional vaccines, I&#039;m not sure if there is any advantage to DNA vaccines in most cases.</description>
