Some thoughts:

I think you may have overlooked Steve Austin in the Six Million Dollar Man. Although not a comic book (so far as I know), this series too portrayed both science and enhancement in a positive light. Austin didn't plan his enhancement though. I remember Dr. Rudy Wells coming off in a very positive way in the show.

Not so sure about your thesis that the moral qualities of a person would be enhanced too. That would seem to be a quality of the mind and much more difficult to affect. Perhaps the enhanced individual would be vulnerable to an inflated ego, as a somewhat minor side effect (but only in a "hey, look at me and what I can do!" way).

Overall I'd suggest that the mind of the augmented human being is the least likely to change.

"[Because] sure as I know anything, I know this: they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people ... better. And I do not hold to that. I aim to misbehave.."

Don't forget Nazi-killing. Which can be moral only if you accept that war can be a moral action. I do accept that, so long as the war is for legitimate reasons of value and is in defense of a greater good. Problem becomes having to decide who gets to determine the greater good, which is what the democratic process is all about.

As for the transhuman characteristics, there is nothing wrong with transhuman morality as long as it doesn't call for a reduction of freedoms. When you want to reduce freedoms for the sake of transhuman beliefs, it is now subhuman morality.*

* according to me, don't have an ethicist to go by here.

Awesome post I have been reading a lot on superheroes and Captain America lately, this piece definitely puts his character into perspective in light of Marvel's Civil War event.
